Fixing OneDrive after the change

After the domain change, OneDrive on your desktop may show sync errors or red X icons on your files. Don't worry — your files are safe and still accessible online. This guide walks you through the fix.

Key things to know

Your files are safe — everything is still in OneDrive online, nothing is lost

⚠️Red X icons on files are a known issue — they don't mean your files are gone

🔧The fix: unlink and reconnect OneDrive with your new @kry.se / @kry.no address

💡

Before you start: you can always find your files in OneDrive by going here: krylivi-my.sharepoint.com. The steps below only fix the desktop sync client — your files in the cloud are unaffected.

01 / DESKTOP SYNC ERROR

Unlink and reconnect OneDrive

If you see sync errors or red X marks on your files, follow these steps to reconnect OneDrive with your new login. Your files will remain intact throughout.

1

Open OneDrive settings

  1. Look in the lower-right corner of your screen for the blue cloud icon (if you don't see it, click the upward arrow ^ to show hidden icons).
  2. Right-click the cloud icon.
  3. Click the gear/settings icon, then select Settings.
2

Unlink your PC

  1. In the settings window, select the Account tab.
  2. Click "Unlink this PC".
  3. When prompted, confirm by clicking "Unlink account".
3

Sign back in with your new address

  1. A sign-in window will appear. Enter your new email address: firstname.lastname@kry.se (or @kry.no for Norway).
  2. Click Sign in.
  3. Enter your password and verify with your mobile device if prompted.
  4. When asked about the OneDrive folder location, click Next to accept the default.
  5. Proceed through the welcome screens until finished.
4

Wait for the re-sync

  1. OneDrive will begin re-syncing your files. This can take several minutes to a few hours depending on how many files you have.
  2. You can use your computer as usual while it syncs.
  3. The red X marks on your files should disappear once the sync completes.
02 / ONEDRIVE IN TEAMS

"404 File Not Found" in Microsoft Teams

If OneDrive inside Teams shows a 404 error, this is caused by cached data. Here's a workaround to clear it.

🔌

Force Teams to refresh OneDrive

  1. Open a one-on-one chat with any colleague in Teams.
  2. In the compose box, click Actions and apps > Attach file > Upload from this device.
  3. Select any file from your computer and click Open.
  4. Click Send. If an error appears, repeat the process several times — this is expected.
  5. Wait 5-10 minutes.
  6. Open the OneDrive app from the left navigation bar in Teams — it should now work.
TROUBLESHOOTING

If something goes wrong

I unlinked OneDrive but the sign-in window didn't appear
Open OneDrive manually: click the Windows (Start) button, type OneDrive, and open it. The sign-in window should appear. If it doesn't, restart your computer and try again.
The sync is taking a very long time
This is normal if you have a large number of files. OneDrive can take several hours to finish re-syncing. You can continue working normally — files are accessible at krylivi-my.sharepoint.com in the meantime.
The red X marks are still there after re-syncing
Give it some more time — the icons can take a while to update after sync completes. If they persist after a few hours, try restarting your computer. If that doesn't help, raise a Zendesk ticket.
I'm still stuck
Raise a Zendesk ticket at clinical-help.kry.se and IT will help you.
